 1. Walter (Furry), Lewis Slide Guitarists, was a country blues guitarist and songwriter from Memphis, Tennessee. Lewis was one of the first of the old-time blues musicians of the 1920s to be brought out of retirement, and given a new lease of recording life, by the folk blues revival of the 1960s. 

 2. Wes Montgomery, Jazz Guitarist 

 3. Marion S. Barry, Democratic politician who served as the second elected mayor of Washington, D.C. from 1979 to 1991, and again as the fourth mayor from 1995 to 1999. In the 1960’s he was involved in the Civil Rights Movement and served as the first president of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). 

 4. Mary Wilson, vocalist  who gained fame as a founding member of the Motown female singing group The Supremes during the 1960s and 1970s. Wilson was the only singer to be a consistent member of the group in its eighteen-year hit-making tenure. Today Wilson remains a strong advocate for the group’s legacy and regularly performs concerts of their music, but has gone on to become a jazz and blues singer, humanitarian, and successful political advocate for artist’s rights.  

 5. Anna Maria Horsford, Actress (Amen, The Wayans) 

 6. Stedman Graham, Educator, author, businessman and speaker, who has also served in the United States Army, although he is primarily known as the partner of media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Graham and Winfrey were engaged to be married in November 1992, but later decided they would rather have a “spiritual union.” 

 7. Alfredo Griffin, former Major League Baseball (MLB) player, who played shortstop for four teams from 1976 to 1993 

 8. D.L. Hughley, Actor/Comedian 

 9. Maurice Ashley, chess grandmaster. He is the first African-American grandmaster.  

 10. Shaquille O’Neal, NBA Superstar
